Initial Ideas

My initial ideas that I could persue are:

Storytelling - For my dissertation, I thought I could look at how storytelling plays its part in animation, advertising, film and games. I thought it might be interesting to find out if different mediums have advantages and disadvantages in terms of telling a story.

Animation From Sound - Traditionally in animation, characters are created and voices are found afterwards. I thought it might be interesting to base a project on creating characters and animations the opposite way round similar to the Creature Comfort television series. I also thought I could look at the Alien Song animation by Victor Navone.

Participatory Culture - I accidently came across a link to www.youtube.com when searching for a music video to a song I liked. As it turns out, the song didn't actually have a music video, but instead people had made their own and posted them on youtube. This gave me the idea to look at participatory culture including fansites, fan litrature, slash fiction etc.

David Smith - Final Year Project

Well I have just started my final year at Huddersfield University studying Virtual Reality Design with Animation. For the final year, we need to come up with ideas for both a dissertation and main project (and it helps if they are related).

This is my blog where I will post up my research and development through my final year which will hopefully help towards a good grade at the end of it :D
